At the heart of Lone Star Legacy Fund’s mission is the belief that transforming the lives of at-risk youth requires more than just guidance—it demands immersive experiences that build character, foster independence, and inspire hope. Combining the rugged spirit of cowboy culture with the therapeutic power of equine interaction, our supported life skills camps offer young people a unique and life-changing journey. Each activity is designed to teach essential life skills and instill values of faith, gratitude, and community, ensuring that these youth are equipped to face life’s challenges with confidence and purpose. Here’s how we bring this vision to life through our core activities.
Defining “At-Risk” Youth
According to research, at-risk youth are defined as young individuals who are exposed to circumstances that significantly hinder their academic success, mental health, social development, or career prospects. These risks often stem from factors such as economic hardship, exposure to violence, familial instability, substance abuse, and lack of access to educational resources. Such youth are more likely to drop out of school, engage in criminal behavior, or experience unemployment and poor health in adulthood. The Lone Star Legacy Fund seeks to intervene in the lives of these at-risk youth by providing faith-based mentorship, life skills training, and emotional support.
